Obituary

Carol Hollmeyer O’Toole died May 25, 2023 in Seattle, Washington surrounded by her daughters. Carol was born in Cleveland, Ohio February 5, 1946 to the late Nancy and Richmond Hollmeyer and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio as a young child. She attended the University of Cincinnati Business School where she was one of the only women enrolled in the Business College. Always a pioneer, Carol worked at United Parcel Service for 31 years in the accounting department where she was the first woman to work in her management position. In 2003, after retirement, Carol moved to Seattle, Washington to be near her daughters, Amy and Lauren O’Toole. As always, Carol quickly became dear friends with her daughters’ friends, created beautiful gardens and made all feel welcome in her home. She was known for decades for her Friday after Thanksgiving dinners, where she loved to talk politics, sports, history and all issues of the day.

In 2010, Carol’s granddaughter, Sabine O’Toole-Cox, was born. Carol’s love for and devotion to Sabine was endless. Sabine was the light of “Grammy’s” life and Grammy the light of Sabine’s. Taking care of Sabine everyday was Carol’s greatest joy. Carol was faithful in cheering Sabine on from the soccer sidelines no matter how hard the rain came down, and could be found in the audience at every school play, performance or event. The family is so grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care she received from her healthcare team over the past years and for the caregivers who allowed Carol to spend her last years at home with her family. Remembrances can be made to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or the charity of your choice.
