Norma Maquirang Tana

Obituary

Norma Tana, 66 of Auburn, Washington, passed away on June 7th after battling from heart attack. She was surrounded by her love ones at the time of her death.

Norma was born on July 13, 1956 to Placido Maquirang Sr. and Anita Mag-Apan in Naligusan, Ibajay, Aklan. After graduating from Marian Academy/La Consolacion Isabela in 1977, She went on to study General Radio Communication at Technological University of the Philippines 1980 while helping out family members.

After graduation, she continued helping family and relatives and also became an Avon Agent who sells beauty products to support her and her family. She landed her first major job as a telephone operator for Philippine General Hospital between 1980 to 1981 and retired after almost 33 years and moved to United States with her husband and daughter.

In 1980, she met Jose, and they wed in 1983, going on to have 3 children, Joy, Michael and Nissie.

When Norma had Joy, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Norma excelled at propping up her brothers and sisters and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was her sibling’s education and livelihood or becoming a first time mother.

Norma was a passionate and creative. From cross stitch to crochet, she will create anything beautiful and wonderful with her bare hands. She loves to cook and feed all the people around her. She always carry her kind heart wherever she goes.

We will miss her greatly.

Norma was predeceased by her father, Placido Maquirang Sr. and her younger sister, Dolores Maquirang. She is survived by her husband, Jose, her children—Joy, Michael and Nissie. Her Mother, Anita Mag-Apan Maquirang and sisters and brothers—Belen, Alejandra, Manolo, Placido Jr, Anita and Nelma. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a celebration of life at 2pm to 5pm on July 8th at Bonney Watson Seatac chapel.
