Obituary

Ronald “Buck” Lee BUCKNER passed away, Monday, September 19, 2005, at his home in Burien. Buck was born to Elliott and Carmen Buckner on March 17, 1938 in Portland, Oregon. He had four older brothers, Leonard, Elliott, Calvin and Donald. He moved to Seattle in 1965. He was married to Linda for 15 years. They had two children, Kevin and Bonnie. Buck married his wife Joe Ann in 1986, and he became the father to five step-daughters, Lori, Marcie, Jeannie, Kimberly, and Kelly. He worked in the Seattle shipyards and as a Forman for Contour Laminates before retiring. He loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching the Mariners.

Buck is preceded in death by his mother Carmen; father Elliott; brothers Leonard and Elliott; and mother-in-law Jeannie.

Buck will be dearly missed by his wife Joe Ann; daughters, Bonnie, Lori, Marcie, Jeannie, Kimberly, and Kelly; son, Kevin; and brothers, Calvin and Donald. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren, Brittany, Robert, Daurlyn, Cory, Cody, Gregory, Chad, Jessica, Dominique, Candice, Tatum, Kelsy, Colby; his three great grandchildren, Makayla, Joshua, and Jimmy; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition, he will be greatly missed by many friends.

An Irish wake will be held to celebrate Buck’s life at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Good Time Ernie’s, 15747 Ambaum Blvd SW, Burien. We ask that you wear a Hawaiian shirt in honor of him. Please only personal friends of Buck or our family. Please sign the online memorial guest book at www.bonneywatson.com.

It might have been hard to say goodbye,

But he wouldn’t want you to be mad and he wouldn’t want you to cry,

He would want you to remember him when you hear an old country song,

Or when you take a walk along Des Moines Memorial Beach,

He would want you to stand strong,

So don’t think about what you didn’t get to say,

Think about him when the Mariners play on a bight sunny day,

Have a beer in his memory to celebrate his life and the relationships you’ve shared,

Remember whether he was mad or happy that he cared,

And through our hearts he will always be there.

~Jessica Nelson Buck’s Granddaughter

It still has not hit me that I will never see my Dad again or feel his strong arms wrapped around me hugging me. I loved him so much, I just hope that he knew how much. There are no words that can express how much I will miss him. I find comfort in knowing that he is in a happier place and watching over me every day.

I am the Mother of Ron’s 2 children, Kevin & Bonnie. I have known Ron since 1956. My memories are: when he worked at the Bakery in ’56 & ’57 he would always bring me a bag of cookies after his shift. I remember his green 1951 Mercury, his black hair always combed to perfection with the “DA” in the black & slicked back. I remember his LOVE he had for his children & his Mother, Carmen. Even tho we have not been together for many years, I will always remember him & miss him very much.
