Obituary
On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Tesfaye Sharew, a beloved father to his three children and friend to many, passed away at his home in Seattle, Washington.
He was 70 years old.
Tesfaye was born to Sharew Aklilu and Terfe Tekleyus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He attended Nativity Boys School and Medhane Alem High. After completing high school, he came to the United States. He attended Highline College and the University of Washington.
A voracious reader and always current with the daily news, Tesfaye was a repository of knowledge about the world. A lifelong fan and fellow-traveler of Bob Marley, he dreamed of world peace. He will be remembered for his quick-witted humor, kindness, and independent spirit.
Tesfaye is survived by his former wife Sara and children Efrem, Eyob, and Abba; his brothers Joseph, Beruke, Theodros, and Meseret; his sisters Senait, Tenagne, Zewditu, and Martha; and many great friends.
I have fond memories of Tesfaye for his generosity and warmth when my husband and I visited Seattle in 1976.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to Tesfaye’s family and friends, and a wish of comfort and peace during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.
